    Wednesday, July 10, 2019, 6:00 PM African American Library at the Gregory School 1300 Victor Street, Houston, TX 77019 2nd Floor, Reading Room Panelists: Naomi Mitchell Carrier, Executive Director of the Texas Center for African American Living History (TCAALH); Angela Holder, Professor of History at Houston Community College and descendant of Corporal Jesse Moore, Company I, 24th Infantry; Vinod Hopson, dramaturge, artist, and historian; and Jefferson Pinder, artist. Race and Riots: The Legacy of Camp Logan will provide context for Jefferson Pinder's projects Fire and Movement and Red Summer Road Trip. Race has been an element of many riots in American history, including the riot that followed the assault of an Army Sergeant in the Third Battalion of the 24th Infantry while stationed at Camp Logan. This panel presentation will explore the history of the Camp Logan Uprising in Houston and its aftermath which included, at that time, the largest murder trial in U.S. history, as well as the legacy of the 24th Infantry. Attendees are invited to reflect on the intersection of gender and queer discourse, issues of performance and performing gender, and their own lived experiences. Admission is free; seating is limited. Advance registration requested. GENDERBUFFET is presented in conjunction with DiverseWorks' upcoming event, Bayou City Be All, an evening of performance, fashion, and music beyond the gender binary. Bayou City Be All is a community-driven project that celebrates queer and gender non-conforming traditions across Houston and beyond. Bayou City Be All features the works of six performance artists and two collectives: Black TM, Tania Breton, Junior Fernandez, iPOCA Collective, Jazmin Jett, Angel Lartigue, Isaac Reyes, and Y2K, selected from an open call.     CO-PRESENTED WITH THE HOUSTON CINEMA ARTS FESTIVAL Internationally renowned digital installation artist, Kelly Richardson, will discuss her past and recent work, including her future planetary landscape works, Orion Tide and Mariner 9. A leader in working with digital technologies to create hyper-real, highly charged environments, the artist will present clips of some of her best-known works and conduct a Q&A moderated by DiverseWorks Executive Director Xandra Eden. This free event is presented by DiverseWorks and the Houston Cinema Arts Society on Sunday, November 17, 12 pm, at MATCH as part of the 2019 Houston Cinema Arts Festival (Nov . 14 - 18).
