Ben DeSoto: Urban Poverty

Through his photographic documentary works, this Houston photographer tells the stories of people who are affected daily by poverty, discrimination, addiction, illness, and homelessness. He also documents the desecration of Freedman’s Towns, the first settlements of freed blacks, in cities like Houston, Dallas, and Atlanta. The accompanying catalog was made in conjunction with FotoFest. Also shown at this time: Continued Aesthetic Investigation by Jno Cook and The Elements of Progress: Dreams Escape by Ken Little.
