George Herms: The Twentieth Century

This performance was part of the 1993-1994 MU-ART Performance Series. This was the first Texas appearance of the California assemblage artist. In his performance, he weaves objects, poetry, sound, and audience interaction together in a subtly witty fashion. Using “found idea” in the same way he uses found objects in his visual work, Herm approached theater as sculpture.
