The Parachute Project
The Parachute Project: Rites of Passage for Young Women and Girls was a performance by at-risk girls from Houston’s marginalized communities who, through this theater work, will “begin the process of finding their voices, telling their stories, and naming their struggles.” This work combined monologue, rap, and dance to transcend fiction and into reality. Funded by the Presenting Program of the National Endowment for the Arts, the New Presenting Opportunities Program of Mid-America Arts Alliance with the Texas Commission on the Arts, and the National Endowment for the Arts.
