School’s OUT: The Naming Project

Six teens from New York teamed up with Houston youth, all led by artist Mary Ellen Strom, a media maker, performer, and teacher who supports alternative TV programming for girls. An evening of performance and video work exploring the early formation of sexual and cultural identity, by a team of lesbian and gay teens from New York who shape a new queer culture that creates respect for their individual identity and community. This project was part of DiverseWorks’ Beyond Desire and Generation X series in conjunction with HIPY and HATCH.
