Anne Waldman: A Reading

Walman is a poet and the founder and director of the Naropa Institute. In her performance, she read from Iovis, her book-length poem which explores “male energy,” from the early mingling of history and mythology to the nightmares of nuclear devastation. She also held a free book signing on April 23 at The Bookstop at the Alabama Theater, and a workshop called Wide Awake Writing at DiverseWorks. Her recorded readings were also part of the PhoneWorks program in which the public could listen to poetry, prose, and sound works via the telephone, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
