Portraits of Community: African-American Photography in Texas

This exhibit is a survey of Texas African-American photography in which community is a central focus. It begins with early images collected in Black communities, undocumented prints that span the period of the 1870s to 1930s, as well as yearbooks in which photographs were originally published.
