A night of performances by several artists in different forms and topics. Sterling Houston presented two excerpts from his written art “The Positive Tip” and “Miranda Rites,” with performer Veronica Gonzales playing the role of Carmen Miranda. Lisa Mellinger presented “The Moody Girls,” which is “about two of the perfectly formed women silhouetted on the mudflaps of semis.” Steve Bailey, Michael Marinez, and Diana Rodriguez-Gil presented ASALTO, a performance/installation that explores political and institutional violence. Finally, author Kitty Williams looked at contemporary racism and sexism in “Let’s Separate and Let Hate Begin.”
