IVAN THE FOOL
Bobbindoctrin Puppet Theater’s Ivan the Fool is a two-act puppet play based on a short story by Leo Tolstoy. The story follows a young rural fool as he tries to maintain peace in his combative household. Ivan’s easy success as a peacemaker catches the eye of Satan, who swiftly intervenes. Undeterred, Ivan’s grand design to keep peace grows from his family to his town, and finally to society itself.
Bobbindoctrin’s Ivan the Fool uses a blend of puppetry traditions and experiments, touching on traditional puppet forms including Bunraku, rod, hand, and shadow puppetry.
