IN CONCERT: JOE MCPHEE & ARTHUR DOYLE

Multi-instrumentalist Joe McPhee and tenor saxophonist Arthur Doyle are artists whose visions were forged in the fires of the 1960’s free-jazz underground and finely honed by lifetime experiences. McPhee has been involved in numerous projects on Pauline Oliveros’ Deep Listening label. His performances at Chicago’s Empty Bottle Festival and the Seattle Earshot Jazz Festival have earned him critical raves. Arthur Doyle first appeared in the New York loft-space concerts of the early 70’s blew through the ‘No Wave’ scene of the early 80’s, and continues to push the boundaries f the art form with his brave and deeply personal vision.
