Don’t Gag the Arts: Save the 3-D Departments!

This was a rally in support of the Sculpture, Ceramic, and Metalsmithing departments at the University of Houston, which the university had planned to dismantle over the next two years. GAG, the Houston artist political action group, organized a rally to give the Houston population a chance to express their support for the program. Activities included a parade, 12 art cars, interactive art sculpture demonstrations, caged artists, a 30 ft. University of Houston cougar mascot, four bands, speakers, and refreshments.
