Donald Byrd and The Group

This performance consisted of selections from Donald Byrd’s works, including Bristle and Drastic Cuts. Dancers of The Group are described as “fast, charged, and direct” in their performance of Bristle, which “investigates the war between sexes, or at least the subtle skirmishes, with unabashed primal power.” Drastic Cuts is a subtle but exciting work with its sparse style and title referring to diminished arts funding.
