A Weekend of Texas Contemporary Dance

This was the second annual Weekend of Texas Contemporary Dance, featuring new works by Houston choreographers. Brangwen’s piece Amelia was to an original score composed by Arthur Gottschalk. Irwin, along with performance poet Niobe Ngozi, presented a work that traces the lives of three sisters from different tribes to describe the foundation of humankind. Wood presented a new piece for the group KOROS, best known for their hip hop dancing to Vivaldi. Sharir Dance Company presented the Houston premiere of a piece titled Dervishing.

This event was co-presented with the Miller Outdoor Theatre and The Dance Initiative.
