Keren Cytter Survey Exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago

Keren Cytter (portrŠtt av konstnŠren) Allt och mer dŠrtill Stockholm 8 maj 2010 - 15 augusti 2010 Artist Keren Cytter currently has a survey exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago. The exhibition features nine videos from the past decade, and premiers a new series of drawings and live performance works. In 2012 Cytter had a major survey exhibition at DiverseWorks, titled Video Art Manual, which was the first large scale survey of her work in the United States. The exhibition featured ten video works from the years 2007-2012, along with drawings, texts, and photographs.

Cytter’s exhibition at the MCA was organized by the Kunsthal Charlottenborg, Copenhagen, and the Chicago presentation is accompanied by a two volume anthology of all of Cytter’s film treatments, entitled respectively, The Best of Keren Cytter, and The Worst of Keren Cytter. For the publication, the artist invited two curators, Jacob Fabricius, formerly of the Kunsthal Charlottenborg, and Naomi Beckwith, of the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, to read and categorize transcripts of the entire body of her video work. The curators then debated the merits of every screenplay, ultimately deeming them representative of the best or worst of her work. The anthology is the first comprehensive collection of Cytter’s film works.

Keren Cytter runs through October 4, 2015, at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago.
