THE KITCHEN TABLE INTERVIEWS

LAURA MORENO AND AZEL AGUSTIN / BEANS & RICE MEDIA ARTS

The Kitchen Table Interviews is a community story-telling project by Laura Moreno and Azel Agustin of Beans & Rice Media Arts that focuses on their neighborhood of Westview Terrace in Houston. The project engages those who have grown up in or are longtime residents of the artists’ neighborhood of Westview Terrace, to share their personal stories and the impact of their recently changing surroundings, and begins to address the effects of displacement felt by many residents across Houston due to widespread residential development.

The Kitchen Table Interviews consists of a full-length documentary of testimonies and reflections by neighbors, filmed in situ at their kitchen tables; a website; a community lending library and art supply boxes to encourage sharing and exchange.

The Kitchen Table Interviews is presented by DiverseWorks as part of the 2022-23 Project Freeway Fellowship Program.
