The Vampires (Vamps) is the result of a series of collaboratives workshops between artist Danielle Dean, her sister Ashstress Agwunobi, and the high school students. The project investigates how objects produced within a capitalist structure shape the subjects who use them. One aspect of the project is a video that is both an investigation of the material fact of Nike’s True Red athletic shoe (also knows as Vamps) and a metaphorical exploration of the implications of that corporation’s marketing strategies.
