Rice’s EcoStudio and DiverseWorks present a workshop on More&More Futures: Coastlines on November 15, from 2:00-5:00 PM, hosted by artist and co-creator Marina Zurkow. The workshop is free and open to the public at the Sunset Coffee Building on Buffalo Bayou. Pre-registration required (register HERE).
More&More Futures uses a fun, atypical approach to co-imagining. Join local environmentalists, artists, and educators while learning how this framework can be used in a range of arts and advocacy settings.
More&More Futures, co-designed by Marina Zurkow and Sarah Rothberg, relies on fun, creative play and collaborative world-making to foster participants’ critical imaginations. More&More Futures: Coastlines offers an expansive view of the systems, models, and personal stakes that constitute our conceptions of “The Coast.” In small groups, you’ll be given playful constraints to help you imagine a world you want to live in—however absurd or impossible it may be. At the end of the workshop, you use this process to reflect on the present, illuminating potential leverage points that may exist today.
By playing together, participants articulate their values in a wildly inventive new context, letting go of present assumptions. Imagining that other worlds are possible restores the potential for out-of-the-box thinking, and flexibility in responding to the present.
More&More Futures Workshop with Marina Zurkow, Sunset Coffee Building 1019 Commerce St, Houston, TX 77002, November 15th, 2026 from 2:00-5:00PM. Register HERE.
