Luck of the Draw, DiverseWorks’ famed fundraising event, returns on Friday, May 17, 2024 at the MATCH. This year, the theme is Ecosystem – reflecting DiverseWorks’ commitment to our forthcoming Climate Action Plan and the exhibition and performance series, River on Fire, opening this fall. Luck of the Draw attendees provide crucial sustenance to DiverseWorks and Houston’s creative ecosystem.
More than 200 works on paper, each one 7 x 9 inches, will be available for purchase at this year’s event. Participating artists include Trenton Doyle Hancock, Preetika Rajgariah, Kaneem Smith, James Surls, and Lillian Warren, to name just a few. All works will be available for the set price of $200.
HOW DOES LUCK OF THE DRAW WORK?
Guests purchase Admission Tickets and Art Chances. When an Art Chance is drawn via lottery (at 7:30 and 8:30 pm), the lucky winner chooses an artwork to add to their collection. Every Art Chance guarantees an artwork, and you may purchase more than one. Individual tickets on sale beginning April 1.
Sponsors receive benefits such as admission tickets, a digital artwork preview, Art Chances (including a special Art Chance in an early drawing prior to the 7:30 pm drawing); name and logo recognition on all event materials; and most importantly, the satisfaction of knowing they are supporting an organization devoted to experimental, risk-taking, and relevant contemporary artists. All proceeds from Luck of the Draw directly support the commissioning, production, and presentation of exhibitions, performances, and community programs at DiverseWorks.
