Reserve free tickets online. \nRec Room Bar will open at 5:00 pm. \nCO-PRESENTED WITH REC ROOM ARTS \n \nABOUT DREW KLEIN\nDrew Klein is Performing Arts Director at the Contemporary Arts Center (CAC) in Cincinnati\, Ohio. There\, he curates and oversees the Black Box Performing Arts Series\, an eight-month season of performance-based projects that explores the full spectrum of disciplines. \nCollaborating with revered figures like Mark Mothersbaugh and Saul Williams\, and new makers like Dana Michel and Ligia Lewis\, Klein’s curation centers on championing the adventurous within a context that honors the community for which he is working. Creating a prominent platform for international work in the Midwest\, he has provided US premieres for artists like Ingri Fiksdal\, Jisun Kim\, and Mithkal Alzghair. Exclusive and co-commissioned performance works include Brian Harnetty’s Shawnee\, Ohio\, Takahiro Yamamoto’s Direct Path To Detour\, Kaneza Schaal’s JACK&JILL\, and Jens Lekman’s storytelling project Ghostwriting. Invested in the careers of Cincinnati’s own artists\, he has produced and commissioned projects by artists such as Eddy Kwon\, Napoleon Maddox\, and Sheida Soleimani. Klein oversaw the CAC’s two-year application process to successfully join the National Performance Network as a partner organization in 2016. \nPrior to joining the CAC\, Klein worked in the New York independent film world with film mogul John Sloss’ sister companies Cinetic Media and Sloss Eckhouse LawCo LLP\, as well as with Barcelona-based production company Garage Films. He holds a BFA in Electronic Media from the University of Cincinnati’s College-Conservatory of Music.  \nABOUT DIVERSE DISCOURSE\nDiverse Discourse brings national curators\, artistic directors\, and critics to Houston to present a free public lecture and conduct studio visits with Houston-area artists\, performers\, and writers. Diverse Discourse provides a significant opportunity for area artists in all disciplines to have their work reviewed by a variety of distinguished arts professionals\, fostering a cultural exchange across the nation between artists and cultural producers. Previous lecturers have included Naomi Beckwith\, Marilyn and Larry Fields Curator\, Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago; Sofía Hernández Chong Cuy\, Curator of Contemporary Art\, Colección Patricia Phelps de Cisneros; Diana Nawi\, Associate Curator\, Perez Art Museum Miami; Thomas Lax\, Associate Curator of Media and Performance Art\, Museum of Modern Art\, New York; and Chris Sharp\, independent curator\, writer\, and critic\, Mexico City\, among others. \n\nphoto: Salena McKenzie
