A HUEY P. NEWTON STORY

After an award-winning run at New York’s Public Theater solo performer Roger Guenveur Smith hits the road with A Huey P. Newton Story, a virtuosic and intimate portrait of Huey P. Newton, the late co-founder of the Black Panther Party. Smith’s performance, largely assembled from Newton’s own writings and interviews, is complemented by Marc Anthony Thompson’s live mix of archival sounds and original music. Together they navigate Newton’s cinematic stream of consciousness to illuminate his mythic rise and tragic fall.
