A Woman’s Work / Ruby Nelda Perez

In this chronicle of San Antonio’s Westside, Perez weaves poems and short stories by Chicana writers Denise Chavez, Mary Sue Galindo, Beverly Sanchez-Padilla, and Enedina Casarez-Vasquez into a narrative about a welfare mom and her adventures with her mother, grandmother, abusive husband, and students when she eventually becomes a school teacher.
