Knight & Knight: Latencies

Artists Chelsea Knight and Autumn Knight present Latencies: a performance that is part lecture, part dinner, and part psychology session.

Co-presented by DiverseWorks and Project Row Houses at Eldorado Ballroom, 2310 Elgin.

We want to tell you our two stories: latent and manifest*. This is our hysterical story (hysterical in the Freudian sense), the story of our alliance, our fraudulence, our transgression, our passive aggression, our competition, our sexuality (or rather hypersexuality), and our relation to the world, as women. How we relate to one another has everything to do with how we relate to you, and who YOU are defines everything, because I am only NOT YOU, and you are only NOT ME.

*In Freud, the latent and manifest are two elements of a dream: the latent is what lives underneath the images and language in a dream, it’s the true content of the unconscious. The manifest is the space of the everyday, the trees and ice cream cones and conversations you had yesterday. It lies on top of the latent. To understand ourselves we must enact both, and we’re going to do it for you.
